Exhibition Review - Light and Revelations 17th - 23rd Sept 2010
Light and Revelations, Dundas St Gallery, Edinburgh, Scotland
This is my most recent exhibition which was in the heart of 'Gallery land' in Edinburgh. The Gallery which i exhibited in was called Dundas Street Gallery, and it sits along side the Open Eye Gallery, Scottish Gallery and many more. This area seves the City with it's diverse mix of contemporary and traditional art - not disimilar to Cork Street in London. The week prior to my show the gallery was showing work by Barbera Rae, so this was a big 'step up' for me, and so far it has paid off!
This was the weekend of the Popes visit to Scotland, so the day before the show he popped in and gave it a blessing - cheers!!!
As with any exhibition, at any level, there is always the apprehension, and tension - this is mainly due to the work involved and the expense leading up to a show of any size. In this case, i was showing around 35 paintings, so it was a large event in a serious art environment. We are living in difficult times in any business, but i managed to sell a few paintings, was asked to do a couple of other shows in 2010 / 2011, and a possible commission for the new year - fingers crossed!!!
